Job Overview

Simma's Bakery is seeking an experienced Cake Decorator to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience decorating cakes or 2+ years of experience and recent culinary degree. The most important qualifications are speed and maintaining a consistent level of quality, if you do not meet the minimum experience requirements listed but feel that you have the required skills please explain in your cover letter.

We are looking for someone who is excited about this career and willing to put in the hours to meet the increasing demand for our cakes.

Work schedule

• Tuesday - Friday, rotating 8am - 4pm and 10am - 6pm, or until all work for the day is completed.
• Saturday - Typically a half day morning or afternoon.

Duties

• Ice cakes quickly and efficiently.
• Utilize piping techniques to decorate cakes at a high standard with excellent consistency.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food handling regulations.
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring supplies.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in cake decorating or a similar role within the culinary or food industry.
• Excellent artistic skills with attention to detail in design and presentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced bakery environment while maintaining quality standards.
• Must take direction well from senior decorators and have a willingness to learn.
• Must be willing to stay until work is finished. Some weeks will have heavier work loads and will require you to stay later than the normal end time.
• Must have Saturday and holiday availability.

Compensation

• $18-20+ depending on skills and level of experience

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours:

• 35 45 hours per week
• 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Tuesday - Friday, some days are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
• 8:00 am - noon and/or noon - 4:00 pm
